INANE Awards & Fellowship
INANE recognizes outstanding editorial leadership and supports the development of emerging professionals in nursing publication through two distinctive programs.
Margaret Comerford Freda Award for Editorial Leadership in Nursing Publication
Established in 2012 and first presented at the INANE Annual Conference in Montreal, the Margaret Comerford Freda Award recognizes an individual who has demonstrated outstanding leadership in nursing publication and made significant contributions to the quality, integrity, and advancement of nursing editorial practice.
The award honors the legacy of Dr. Margaret Comerford Freda and her remarkable contributions to nursing scholarship and editorial excellence.
Eligibility: Individuals with sustained editorial leadership in nursing publication, including editors, editorial board members, publishers, and others who have contributed significantly to nursing journals and nursing literature.
Nominations: Nominations are accepted annually. Self-nominations are not accepted. Information about the next nomination cycle will be announced by INANE.

Suzanne Smith INANE Editor Fellowship
Established in 2013, with the first recipients supported to attend INANE in 2014, the Suzanne Smith INANE Editor Fellowship supports emerging editors, authors, reviewers, and publishing professionals who will be influential in creating and sharing nursing knowledge.
The fellowship supports participation in the INANE community and annual conference and provides recipients with mentorship from experienced editor colleagues.
The fellowship is named in honor of Suzanne Smith, a long-time and deeply beloved member of the INANE community who died in 2013. Suzanne’s commitment to supporting emerging professionals in nursing publication continues through the fellowship that bears her name.
Eligibility: Emerging professionals in nursing editing, publishing, reviewing, authoring, or librarianship who would benefit from mentored conference participation and connection with the INANE community. Self-nominations are welcome.
Applications: Applications are accepted annually. Information about the next application cycle will be announced by INANE.
